“I am not a regular dieter but was in busy early retirement and feeling sluggish! Attending this programme has helped me to think more about my lifestyle choices. It gives you lots of information and you meet other people on the same journey, some of whom have much more weight to lose. It gives you ‘me time’ to think about what you can do differently and there are weekly targets to aim for. This builds up so that by the end of the programme you really do feel a sense of achievement and want it to continue. Colin has been so supportive and we certainly took him “off script” quite a bit! He sees you as an individual and gives you the time and advice that is appropriate for you. My weight is still ‘work in progress’ but I feel so much better, with more energy and more confidence about my health. Thank you so much.”
Councillor Chris Henig (Barton Road) August 2015
“For me having the strength both physically and mentally to complete this challenge has been an amazing experience. Something I feel was only possible with the support from the fabulous group of girls on the night but also the Y:Weight and Y:Active programs. Thank You.”
“I enjoyed the companionship and routine of coming to Y Weight. The sessions were fun and informative and Colin, the leader was very good company. The course helped me to maintain a previous weight loss at a time when I was feeling wobbly and likely to regain weight.”
David Dale – (Halton) April 2015
“You have no idea how much you have tapped into my head,it’s the first time anyone has managed to do that! I think it’s because you are not telling us what to eat and what not to eat, you are just educating us so we make informed and better choice So. I really am getting a lot out of our sessions”.
Linda Cottam (3-1-5 Health Club) June 2015
“I have definitely benefited from the Y: Weight programme, and am currently only at week 8. The programme has been really beneficial, with the programme format and resources providing step-by-step instructions
The mixture of individual and group activities is enjoyable, and our coach Colin makes things easy to understand.”
Jean Gray (Lancaster YMCA) March 2015
“My husband and I have both enjoyed the course very much. It is informative, and the book provided is very helpful. Brian has lost over a stone in weight so far, and it has given both of us the information we need to continue a healthy eating plan, with moderate exercise.
The course is very well presented, and the group is friendly. In the discussions, everybody has a chance to have their say if they want to. I like the fact that it is informal, and we are not put under any pressure or expectation.”
Julie & Brian Stone (Heysham Primary Care Centre) April 2015
“Just a quick message to say how much I enjoyed the course.I have been a serial yo-yo dieter for many years, but, I feel with the tools the course has given me that I am finally in control. I found the sessions informative and easy to follow. I now am able to see how I’ve blindly accepted misleading food labelling, have been adding unnecessary extra calories to my cooking and thinking that the annual diet was the only way.
I truly appreciate all your support help and encouragement on this journey to a lighter, thinner and healthier me.”
Thank you, Christine Price (Heysham Primary Care Centre) April 2015
“The course you have run over the last 12 weeks has kicked started me to change eating habits , eat more healthily and begin to enjoy exercise once again . Your enthusiasm for us to succeed , I think was the motivation I needed. Thank you so much.”
Angela Preston (Lancaster – July 2015)
“Not a diet, Y:Weight has completely changed my relationship with food! I have dropped on average 1kg per week through mindful eating, label reading, menu creating, small changes adding up to a whopping big change. The Momenta Y:Weight Handbook will be my friend and guide for the rest of my life!”
Andrew Noble, St Annes

“During the group sessions we discuss the different aspects of food, exercise and the psychology behind a healthy lifestyle. I have tried Weight Watchers and Slimming World but Y:Weight and Momenta is the only thing that has worked for me.”
